WHO WE ARE: The Nurses
Reception and Office Staff
The other Vets
The Partners
The practice is a RCVS Veterinary Nurse training centre and has a dedicated team of qualified and student Veterinary Nurses.

Our Head Nurse is Miranda Priest VN. Miranda did her nurse training three years ago at Head and Head. As a vacancy wasn't available with us at the time when she qualified, she went to work in a couple of other local practices before returning to Head and Head to take over the Head Nurse position earlier this year.
Miranda is dedicated to her job and enthuses all her colleagues ; vets and nurses alike, with her love of her job and dedication to the animals under her care. Miranda has attained her A1 nurse training qualification.
Miranda runs regular weight watchers clinics (for pets not owners!). She holds these clinics on Mondays and appointments with her can be made at our reception. She has had a great deal of success and some pets have already lost several kilos!

Katie Morley VN and Trudy Hayman VN are our other qualified nurses. Katie has also acheived her City and Guilds qualification in nursing of Exotic Species.Katie has recently returned to the practice after maternity leave with her second child. Her pet greyhound is our resident blood donor and has now saved the lives of several anaemic canines.

Trudy's duties include ensuring that our insurance forms are correctly completed and sent off promptly and she is also in charge of our laboratory area. (We have recently invested £26,000 in new lab equipment including a state of the art haematology analyser, a biochemistry machine and we can also now do electrolytes, thyroxin and cortisol assays on site.)

Sarah Hosken has recently passed her final nursing exams and become a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse . We have decided to keep Sarah on as a permanent member of our nursing team as a reward for her dedicated and diligent work with us.

Sarah Edwards  has passed her level 2 nursing exams at Duchy College last year and will be taking her level 3  final exams of the veterinary nursing course this summer with, practical exams in the autumn. Sarah has excelled in her college group and was awarded top student in her year last year!

Melanie Clayton is the latest addition to our team. She passed her veterinary care assistant qualification last year and is now doing well on the first year of her nursing qualification taking her level 2 exams this summer.

The nurses run their own afternoon clinics, in which they undertake procedures such as suture removals, dressing changes, nail clips, administration of wormers (and other medication) and blood sampling. They also give dietary advice, undertake free "six month old puppy checks" and weigh animals.
They also run puppy parties in the evenings. These are run as a series of three, once weekly evening parties for six month old puppies and their owners. They are great fun and are intended to help with the socialisation of puppies. The nurses also give an educational talk on a different topic at each puppy party
